Announcements are how the employer communicates to staff: you target the message, send or schedule it, and follow the acknowledgements. Open People → Announcements. The page is visible only if you have the right to send announcements and the feature is enabled.
Create an announcement
- Press New announcement.
- Write the Title and the Message.
- Choose the Channels. The in-app notification is always on; in addition you can pick Push notification and Email. A recipient gets push or email only if their own notification settings allow it.
- If needed, tick Require acknowledgement (“Mark as read”). A reminder is sent to those who have not acknowledged, per the organisation’s settings.
- Choose the Audience: All staff, Staff group or Custom. On top of that you can use Add named people and Exclude people. The recipient count shows on the form as you go.
If SMS sending has been configured for your organisation, the channels also include Text message (SMS). Text messages consume SMS credits: you see a credit estimate before sending, and the send is confirmed separately. A recipient without a phone number gets no SMS but still receives the in-app notification.
Send, schedule or save a draft
The bottom of the form offers three ways forward:
- Send now – the announcement goes out immediately.
- Schedule – set the Send time first. The time cannot be in the past. A schedule can be undone with Cancel schedule, which returns the announcement to a draft.
- Save draft – continue later. A draft can be removed (Delete draft).
A sent announcement cannot be edited. If you spot a mistake, make a corrected version with Copy to new and archive the old one (Archive).
Follow reads and acknowledgements
The row of a sent announcement opens the delivery view: the recipients, per-channel delivery status, and counters for reads and acknowledgements. Failed deliveries can be sent again (Resend failed or Resend to all).
How the employee reads and acknowledges
A new announcement appears for the employee on the notification bell’s Announcements tab, and the full history lives under My work → Announcements, where the list can be narrowed with Unread. Opening an announcement marks it as read.
If the announcement requires acknowledgement, the employee presses Mark as read at the end of it. The acknowledgement time is stored and shown to both the employee and the sender.
If something goes wrong
The Announcements page is not visible. The feature may be switched off – an admin can enable it under Settings → Features. Also check that you have the right to send announcements.
A recipient got no email or push. The in-app notification always arrives, but push and email travel only if the recipient’s own notification settings allow them – see Notifications and how to manage them. The per-channel status is in the delivery view.
Some people got no SMS. The most common reasons: the recipient has no phone number, or the SMS credits ran out mid-send. Top up the credits and use the delivery view’s Resend failed button.
No acknowledgements are coming in. Check that Require acknowledgement (“Mark as read”) was ticked on the announcement – reading alone does not count as an acknowledgement. Those who have not acknowledged get a reminder per the organisation’s settings.
