Comparison groups are the job groups the equality survey uses to show how women and men are placed in different jobs. In Kelomo you define the groups, place people in them and get the survey as a report. Kelomo holds no pay data: the pay survey – comparing pay by comparison group – is done in the payroll system, which can use the same groups.
Comparison groups are managed by HR and the administrator. A supervisor does not see a person’s comparison group. The feature is part of the HR add-on.
Create comparison groups
- Open Settings → People and HR → Equality comparison groups.
- Add a group with the button at the top of the page. Give it a name in Finnish, Swedish and English.
- Record the Basis: why the jobs in the group are of comparable value – skill, effort, responsibility and working conditions. Write the basis in gender-neutral terms; it is the survey’s own justification for the grouping.
- Save.
A register row shows the group’s current headcount and its basis. Open the row to change the name, the basis and the group’s Code.
A group that has never been used can be deleted. A group anyone has ever been placed in cannot, because an old survey rests on it – choose Disable instead. A disabled group is no longer offered for new placements, but the placement history stays.
Place a person in a comparison group
- Open the person’s page and the Employment tab.
- The Job card shows the person’s Comparison group today. In Placement history, choose Place in a comparison group.
- Choose the group and the Valid from date, then choose Save.
A new placement ends the previous one on the day before – the old row is not overwritten. When the person no longer belongs to any group, choose No comparison group. A placement is never deleted; a mistake is corrected by recording the next placement.
Placement history lists every placement in the columns Comparison group, Valid from and Valid until. A new placement cannot start before a later placement that is already recorded; correct the later one first.
The equality survey
Open Reports and choose Equality survey in the HR section. Choose the As-of date and, if the organisation has several employers, the Employer – the equality plan is made per employer. The survey counts the people whose employment is in force on the as-of date, each by the placement that was in force on that day. A survey run for a date two years back therefore comes out the same even if placements have changed since.
The report contains:
- Personnel by comparison group and gender: headcounts per group in the columns Women, Men, Other and Not stated. People without a placement appear on the row No comparison group.
- Age distribution by gender.
- The figures Personnel, Comparison groups, Without a comparison group and Gender stated.
People state their gender themselves in their own details, and it is voluntary. The report names no one. Cells of fewer than five people show as Hidden, as do cells whose hidden number could otherwise be worked out from the totals.
The report can be printed, downloaded as PDF, Excel or CSV, and scheduled – see Create and schedule a report. The Equality plan row on the obligations page leads straight to it through Open the equality survey.
