I can't edit a workday

Find out how to correct a confirmed or approved workday, or a day in a locked payroll period.

Updated

Check the day’s status first. Drafts can usually be edited directly. A confirmed or approved day must be reopened for correction, and a locked payroll period may prevent editing.

The day is confirmed

If your supervisor has not approved it yet, open the day and choose Reopen for editing. Correct the draft and confirm again. The week summary also lets you reopen several eligible days at once.

The day is approved

Ask your supervisor to correct the day or return it to you. They can also undo the approval. Employees cannot reopen an approved day themselves.

See Correct an already confirmed day.

The payroll period is locked

Contact payroll. The day cannot be edited until the lock is removed. After correction, it needs to be confirmed and approved again.

If the data has already been delivered to the payroll system, agree how to correct it there too. Unlocking or correcting a day does not by itself update previously delivered data. See Export payroll data.

The hours came from clocking in

Correct the time in the day draft. The original clock-in and clock-out records remain in the history. If a session is still open, end it and check the day’s times before confirming.

The change concerns an approved absence

Correct the absence details, not just the day’s time entries. See Request leave or report an absence.
