The flex balance looks wrong

Check missing entries, surplus hours, the opening balance and daily targets if your flex balance does not match.

Updated

Your flex balance is affected by recorded working time, daily targets and balance transactions. First identify the day when the figure starts to differ from what you expect. The daily breakdown helps locate the cause.

Is working time missing?

Check past working days and missing or incomplete entries. An unrecorded workday may reduce the balance by that day’s target. Draft time entries may also appear in the flex balance before confirmation.

Correct the times to reflect actual work. Check breaks and absences too.

How were hours above the target handled?

Hours above the target do not always increase the flex balance. Depending on the rules and the choices made at confirmation, they may be paid or transferred to a time bank.

Check the day’s breakdown to see how the hours were handled. The time bank and other balance accounts are separate from flex time. See Balance accounts.

Is the opening balance correct?

Check the opening balance imported from the previous system, its effective date and any later adjustments. An incorrect opening balance affects subsequent balances too.

An administrator can check the transactions and make an appropriate adjustment. Do not alter time entries to compensate for an opening-balance error.

Is the daily target correct?

Check the target in the day’s breakdown, the employee’s working-time model and when it applied. Public holidays, absences and other working-time rules may affect the target.

Ask an administrator to check the settings for that specific date. The current working-time model may not have applied when the difference arose.

Are you comparing the same balance?

Make sure you are comparing the same person, balance type and date. Flex time, time bank hours and leave days are different balances. Different reporting periods can also explain a difference.

If the cause remains unclear, tell your supervisor or administrator the date, displayed balance and expected balance, and explain how you arrived at the expected figure. See also Flex balance.
